This year, SIR returns with 2 productions playing in repertory – alternating on selected dates – between June 5 and July 6, 2025.
SIR’s 2025 season embraces the theme of destiny with two plays that examine the electrifying friction between free will and determinism and explore our relentless capacity to reinvent ourselves and to dream up new realities: Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot.
Artistic Director, Rodrigo Beilfuss, invites you to join us, saying:
“Life often feels like a battle between waiting around and taking action. We are hopelessly hopeful creatures, and we look for signs and patterns everywhere, burdened by the heavy weight of choice.
In these plays Shakespeare and Beckett explore and explode so many of our contemporary preoccupations with thrilling action and boundless humour. One speaks to us from four centuries ago, and the other from the middle of the last century; and yet the words ring as true and urgent today as they did when they were both living artists. That is the magic of theatre, and the power of endurance of the classics: through living and breathing human beings now, we experience what was said then, and imagine what tomorrow could be like – together, in community.
I cannot wait to welcome you to the park and to rediscover ourselves anew through two of the greatest plays ever written!”

Macbeth, by William Shakespeare
“what is done cannot be undone”
After five years of much needed comedies and romances, we will return to Shakespeare’s tragedies with one of his finest – and shortest; the electrifying “Scottish play”. This popular ‘Shakespearean noir’ is exciting as a murder mystery, but it is its palpable and sensual atmosphere that really grabs us. For gloomy intensity, there’s nothing like it in all of Shakespeare.

Waiting for Godot, by Samuel Beckett
““We are all born mad. Some remain so.”
And now for something completely different, Samuel Beckett’s absolute masterpiece, and one of the most important texts of the last century: Waiting for Godot has surely become one of the most canonical and enigmatic plays since Shakespeare; a deeply nuanced and humours story about two seemingly homeless men waiting for someone – or something – named Godot. Vladimir and Estragon wait near a tree, inhabiting a drama spun of their own rich consciousness.
