Debbie Patterson
Debbie Patterson is a Winnipeg playwright, director and actor. She lives in the city with her family: Arne MacPherson, Gislina Patterson, and Solmund MacPherson. She is a founding member of SIR, and has served as Artistic Associate of Prairie Theatre Exchange (PTE) and as Theatre Ambassador for Winnipeg’s Cultural Capital year.
Favourite acting roles include Zoya in Molotov Circus, the Nurse in Romeo & Juliet, and Jenny in Threepenny Opera. Directing credits for SIR include A Stripped-Down Midsummer Night’s Dream, Stripped-Down Macbeth, and Taming of the Shrew. Playwriting credits include the musical Head, Sargent & Victor & Me, Candy from a Baby, and Molotov Circus (nominated for the Harry Rintoul Award and the Susan Blackburn prize). She has also written several adaptations of Robert Munsch stories for PTE which have gone on to be produced at theatres across the country.
