Kevin Klassen

Kevin joined the SIR Ensemble in 2002 and since then he has been privileged to play a wide variety of Shakespeare’s roles (from Romeo to Juliet). Kevin also directed The Merry Wives of Windsor for SIR.

Kevin keeps busy as a performer, writer, director and producer of theatre throughout Winnipeg. His first play, Aftertaste, won the Harry Rintoul Award for Best New Manitoba Play at the Winnipeg Fringe. His first full-length play, Bleeding Hearts, was produced by the Manitoba Theatre Centre in 2009. Kevin was also recently honoured with the Reg Skene Award for Emerging Artists for his work as a playwright.

Kevin is particularly proud of the productions he has collaborated on with his life partner Charlene Van Buekenhout and her company Echo Theatre, including: A Strange Pair; Dr. Kellog’s System; Lulu: A Monster Tragedy; The Twits; and The Misadventurous Perils of Pauline.
